Targu Ocna
Salina and Măgura park are the main areas dedicated to the treatment of ailments, especially respiratory and rheumatism, to which we add the treatment base of the Măgura Hotel Complex and the modern Creangă Spa Center.
Măgura Park. The first mineral springs were discovered in 1846, in "Nastasache's garden" (the current Park), and it was also then that their first chemical analyzes were made. But it was only in 1883 that Dr. Samuel Konya published the chemical analysis of the 7 springs, and in 1888 their capture took place. The first organized baths (40 cabins and 70 tubs) appeared in 1912, but during the First World War, the establishment was destroyed and a new one was built between 1927-1936, but which only operated during the summer. The existence of these springs meant that the town of Târgu-Ocna was included in the category of balneoclimatic resorts since 1894, a status reconfirmed in 2002, Târgu-Ocna becoming a tourist resort of national interest. After 1970, the exploitation of salt by boreholes led to serious damage to the park. It was only in recent years that it moved on to the redevelopment and capitalization of its tourist potential.
On June 11, 2009, the Parc Măgura Spa Center in Târgu-Ocna was inaugurated, which includes: the Măgura Park Spa Treatment Center, the Tourist Information Center, the Măgura Park and the Mineral Springs Center. The new spa center will capitalize on the therapeutic properties of the 7 mineral springs in its vicinity. For now, during the summer, only the two swimming pools for adults and for children operate. Of the 7 springs, Spring no. 1, which has sulphurous, chlorinated, bicarbonated, sodium, hypotonic water, is indicated in internal treatment (eg: chronic non-specific enterocolitis, biliary dyskinesias, chronic cholecystitis, postoperative sequelae of the biliary tract). Springs 2 and 4, with sulphurous, slightly brominated, chlorinated, sodium, hypotonic water are indicated both in internal cure (e.g.: chronic non-specific enterocolitis, biliary dyskinesias, chronic cholecystitis, postoperative sequelae of the biliary tract) and in external (eg: chronic degenerative rheumatism, post-traumatic musculo-articular sequelae and chronic peripheral neurological diseases). Springs no. 3, 5, 6 and 7, with sulphurous, slightly brominated, chlorinated, sodium, hypotonic water, are indicated only in external treatment (chronic degenerative rheumatism, abarticular rheumatism, post-traumatic muscle-articular sequelae and chronic peripheral neurological diseases). A point of interest is Groapa Burlacu, a lake formed by submerging the land as a result of the exploitation of salt in solution in the area; its transformation into a recreational lake is already foreseen in a project. Events dedicated to "Târgu-Ocna City Days" are organized in the park in August, and in its vicinity, the stadium hosts football matches and other sports competitions. Măgura Park remains the favorite place for promenades.
Salina treatment and leisure base
Located a few hundred meters from the center of Târgu-Ocna, in the Vâlcica valley, Salina is one of the city's attractions. The beginning of salt exploitation in this area dates back to the century. XV, from the time of Stephen the Great.
It was the only salt exploitation center in Moldova, salt being exported to three continents. Over time, three methods of salt extraction were used: bell-shaped pits (1870th century until 1870 – the pit of the arrested, the Oprean pit, the Ocniţa pit); large trapezoidal chambers arranged around a central pillar (1968–1967, Moldova Veche and Moldova Nouă mines) and small chambers and square pillars (from XNUMX – Pilot mine and Trotuş mine).
The first tourist base was established in the Pilot mine, in 1974, at a depth of 130 m, being focused on the treatment of upper respiratory diseases.
The recreational tourist base, established in 2005, is located in the Trotuş Mine, on the IX horizon, at 240 m depth, 3,1 km from the departure point of the minibuses and 136 m from the mine entry point. The tourist base has an area of 13.000 m61.000, a useful volume of 8 m12 and 13 m height of the furnished rooms (small rooms with square pillars). The saline microclimate, rich in negative ions, has a constant temperature of XNUMX-XNUMX degrees Celsius and is favorable for the treatment of respiratory diseases.
The leisure tourist base offers the following points of interest: "St. Varvara”, the Salt Museum, the “Florin Piersic” Performance Hall, the waterfall and the salt lake, the gymnasium, medical office, sports base (fields and areas set up for football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, billiards, chess, backgammon, jogging, rollers), playgrounds for children (swings, slides, cars), mechanical games, food kiosk, souvenir shop and terrace, wireless internet (4 computers), a locomotive from the interwar period. Church "St. Varvara" is one of the few churches in the country built in salt mines. Excavated in salt, during 1992, the church has sconces, the great chandelier, quinoas and other cult objects cut in salt. Visiting the church and the tourist base, a real underground city, can turn into a unique experience. On the surface there is a beach with salt water, with a program in the warm season, indicated for rheumatic diseases.
