The route starts from DN12 A, Oneşti-Miercurea-Ciuc, from the town of Ciobănuş (45 km from Onești, 75 km from Miercurea-Ciuc). From here, approximately 50 meters before crossing Trotușului on an old bridge with a metal structure, a communal road branches off to the left which, after passing under the railway, enters the village of Caralita. The communal road continues parallel to the Ciobănuș stream; at the exit of the village we can see the presence of a drinking water collection and purification station.

At about 5 km we will reach an intersection, at which point we will follow the road on the left, the road leading to Valea Lapoșului. At km 8 of the route we will be able to see on both banks of the Ciobănuş, several forest cabins, where there is also a wonderful clearing, suitable for a short stop. In the immediate vicinity, we enter the Ciobănușului Gorge, an area with countless small waterfalls, rocky walls and many other landforms, which offer us a picturesque landscape. After about 5 km in which we feasted our eyes on wonderful landscapes, the Shepherd's Pass opens up, reaching a large clearing where the Cărunta herring is located, representing the 'end of the line' of our route.

Route description: The Comănești- Lapoș Peak (TG) route reaches a maximum altitude of 1327 m, with a length of approximately 16 km. The route starts from the center of Comănești, crossing the barrier in the Lăloaia neighborhood. It climbs past a former mine dating back to 1836. The first mining was done in the "Chiatra Neagră" area, the former "Crăciunești" mine. The coal extracted by rudimentary means was transported by ox carts to Galați and used as fuel for ships. Ten years later, coal mining was done sporadically, only to ensure the fuel needs of the "Moara de foc" steam power plant in Iași. We cross the "Coast of Light" plateau and, going along the axial road, at 12 km there is a lookout point towards another former mine, the Filigeni mine which, in turn, was also part of the Comănești coal basin. The route continues towards Vf Lapoș, and along the route we discover another lookout point in the "La Timaru" clearing, where we can make a stop at the spring with drinking water. From here we will immediately reach Vf. Lapoș, where we will be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the neighboring localities.

Tourist attractions: Făget village, panorama from Ascuțit peak

Route description:

The tourist trail marked with a yellow triangle starts from the village of Făget, Filaturii Street, on the bridge over the Trotuş River. After passing the railway, the trail begins with a rather rocky climb towards Valea Mare. In the middle of the valley, a beautiful panorama opens up over the Trotuş Valley with a view of the village of Făget.

The trail climbs steeply up the valley and once we reach the edge of the forest we come across the only sheepfold on the trail.

There is also a spring with drinking water here, being the only source of water on the route.

From here the trail enters the forest and continues along the contour line on an old forest road, offering spectacular views of the main valley of Ghimeş and the villages of Făget and Buha. After two kilometers the trail turns left and becomes very steep and rocky in places.

After a climb of a few hundred meters, the route reaches a wide path with a centuries-old fir forest.

The second turn to the left follows and the trail becomes steep and unfriendly again for three hundred meters. After this steep section, the trail continues more gently through a young forest with blackberries and not infrequently with bear tracks  to the Ascuţit peak.

At the top, the panorama over the Trotuş Valley rewards every drop of sweat.

On days with good views, we have the opportunity to admire the localities from above: Lunca de Jos, Valea Rece, Făget, Ghimeş, Palanca.

At the same time, from the top you can see the peaks: Născălat, Ceahlău, Mihai's peak, Griduşul, Ciodumerul, Cărunta and Lapoş peak.

During the two World Wars, the Ascuțit peak was home to a military observatory, as it offers a very wide view of the Trotuș valley.

From Ascuţit Peak we have the possibility to descend on the yellow stripe route towards Boroş Valley or Capelei Valley and we can also connect with the Regina Maria or red triangle route that descends from Popoiu Peak towards Rákoczi Fortress.
