Protected habitats: grass formations – 89,80 ha, forests – 79,18 ha, other lands – 37,49 ha.
"Dealul Perchiu" is located in the NE Development Region, in Bacău County, near Oneşti Municipality, extending over an area of 185 ha.
The "Dealul Perchiu" protected area is easily accessible from any part of Bacău county, bordering the railway, the European road E574 and the national roads DN 11 A and DN 12 A, 50 km from the municipality of Bacău county and 40 kilometers from the town of Comăneşti.
The site overlaps the central area of the Tazlău-Caşin Depression. In the north-west to south-east direction, the site is traversed by the central summit of Perchiu Hill, made up of lithological deposits in which gray sands, marls and gypsum alternate. The accentuated slopes and less fixation of the grassy vegetation on the northern or eastern slopes of this hill made the evolution of the relief to be done by surface erosion and locally by landslides.
The presence of gypsum in the substrate contributed to the supply of soils with bivalent cations, favoring the formation of humus accumulation horizons with soft characters.
The soil cover is characterized by the predominance of cernisols and protisols, mostly affected by denudation processes.
The site belongs to the hydrographic basin of Trotuş, either through direct laminar drainage (the southern and eastern slopes of the Perchiu Hill), or through the Caraclău stream, located to the west of the site, or through the torrential valley Popii Valley, from the north of the site. The research of the vegetation of this site led to the identification of 596 angiosperm species.
The vegetation of the site has a pronounced character of transition between forest-steppe and forest, with great similarities with the vegetation of the forest-steppe in the south of the Central Moldavian Plateau.
The climate is temperate continental, with an average annual temperature of 9 degrees C and an average annual amount of precipitation of 550-600 mm.
